So why should you apply for the BYM summit? BYM is not just another leadership event or talkfest; you will be offered experiences, exposure, learning, development and networking opportunities not available anywhere else. You will also become part of a national network of BYM alumni, with continued opportunities for strengthening these relationships. Attending any similar leadership event would cost at least $2000, but if you are selected, your place at the Summit is offered at no cost.

To reiterate - this is not just about academic results and conventional intelligence. The new generation of leaders is not just one with intelligence, but also with the creativity to think up great ideas, the boldness to act upon them and the passion to see them through to completion. And there's nothing like being surrounded by 99 other brilliant young people all working together to produce inspiring results.
Once you see what you are capable of, both individually and as a team, then you get down to the real work - brainstorming real social initiatives or socially beneficial business ventures and turning them into tangible operations launched and run by you and your fellow delegates.

Throughout the course of the Summit, you have the chance to interact with some of Australia's most inspiring speakers. They will share with you their insights into the pressing issues facing Australian society, as well as offering you a glimpse into the challenges they have faced in developing their own successful and inspiring initiatives.

But there's a lot of fun to be had as well. Once the day’s Summit activities conclude, there are organized networking events and casual group dinners, as well of plenty of partying in some of Sydney’s funkiest bars. A big part of the BYM Summit is giving the delegates the opportunity to get to know each other and have fun!

And at the end, we cap it off with an event attended by prestigious guests and representatives from all our sponsors. Delegates present the initiatives they have developed over the course of the Summit and make their first approaches to potential partners

This is also a great opportunity to impress top socially responsible companies looking for future recruits. And if that doesn’t happen during the Summit, being a Brightest Young Mind won’t hurt your CV!

If you have your professional goals set high, if you care passionately about positively contributing to society, or even if you are cynical about making a difference but want to see how you can apply your skills, you should apply for Brightest Young Minds.

The 2009 BYM Summit will take place from 27 September to 2 October in Sydney.
